week7: Secret of the Parthenont

This is a documentary about the Parthenont in Greece, it is a symbol of western civilization culture such as art, architecture, beauty, science and new form of government democracy The video show us the temple's history, value, human belief and architecture. The technology to build the temple prove unmatched even with today technology, the Greece was able to do what cost us 30 years in 9 years. The temple was made up from 70000 pieces of unique marble that perfectly shaped inch by inch. Unfortunately , it was ruined by natural disaster and war. However, its still a icon of western culture that is the model for bank, museum and government building.
I listen to this video for one hour, I chose this video because I like ancient Greek mythology and architecture. After I watched this video, I admirer the Greek for able to build such marvel that is the foundation of modern civilization and wonder why only the Greek could think of those thing. I believe the Greek and Roman are two culture that effect us most in many way and we have to thank them for our comfortable modern life.

week3: The teacher learns a lesson : coming out in class

The story is about a teacher that happen to be gay and he became very strict to his student to hide the fact from everyone. One day in1991, he decided to join the Irish gay and lesbian organization and march with them during the ST Patrick's day  parade. The day after that when the student asked him where was he, he confessed that he is gay, however the student did not isolate him or say anything bad about him, instead,  he is free to teach them without hiding his true self .

I chose the story because the topic is very interesting to me. I was quite surprise about the student reaction, they are pretty mature for 10th grade student. It does have a happy ending , I like it and also admire the teacher's courage to able to live real to himself , not many people could have done that..

Week 2: George Washington

 The video is about George Washington , the first president of the United State Of America . He is an excellence general who lead the army of farmer and peasant to victory against British Empire. He is the first person made an Empire lose to its colony which most of the people at the time consider impossible. Although he could become a military dictator or king, he stepped down when the war is over. He remain his loyalty to his belief and the democracy to the very end of his life.

Introduction

Hi everyone

My name is Giang An Huy, you can call me Huy for short. I like music, sport, food, comics and video games. I am not a morning person so I refer sleep-in in the morning, I am kind of old fashion but I am friendly and want to learn more about difference cultures.

I was born in a town near Ho Chi Minh city in south Vietnam so my first language is Vietnamese and my second language is English. My family has four people, my father is a vice-president of Nhon Trach district and my mother is a businesswoman. I also have a older sister who is studing master degree in New Hampshire .

My favorite subject is English, I want to become a hotel manager in Vietnam because I will have a chance to encounter difference people , from difference  back ground.
